Just a little over 2 hours from NYC rests this historic inn and hotel in Germantown, NY. The Central House has seen many eras and owners, some quite famous. Built circa 1876, it has served as a speakeasy, stage coach house, various restaurants and a brothel! At one point in its history it was owned by a member of the Rockefeller family. It was acquired by the current owners in 2006 and has been lovingly renovated and restored to a comfortable, well-appointed 6 bedroom & bath hotel. Current plans are to open a restaurant & bar for guests and local residents, as well as plans for a wine cellar with private dining rooms and a garden. Main Street is bustling once again with new shops appealing to local needs and wants. As you'll see in the video, 2 stores were recently opened by the same person who believes wholeheartedly Germantown is the next up and coming Hudson River town. Perhaps if you're reading this, you may be that next someone looking for a complete life change, or wanting to fulfill a lifelong dream to own a little piece of history and become a hotel & innkeeper. It's worth a visit - you may just want to come, sit & stay!
