    What's special

Get a head start on your new homestead with quality land of fields and maple forest. Come see this 60 +/- acres located in southern Aroostook County at 220 Thompson Settlement Road Oakfield. This property has approximately 40 acres of open fields that slope to the west and southwest with elevations ranging from about 690 feet at the street to more than 800 feet near the eastern boundary. The elevation gain offers a commanding view of Mt. Katahdin and other northern Appalachian mountains. NRCS soil mapping shows about 40% of the land to be soil series of Thorndike and Howland, suitable for intensive farming use. Nearly another 40% of the soils are too steep for intensive farming but could be used for moderate grazing lands or made more productive for crops with terraced farming. 20 +/- acres of the northern boundary of the property is a mixed hardwood forest with some fine sugar maple stands. Diversify your investment with a small sugarbush operation on this part of the property. There are many potential building sites on the property along the road. The most spectacular location would require constructing a driveway to the plateau near the north east corner where the trees block the northwest winds. This location has incredible mountain and valley views leading the horizon in nearly every direction. The south and southwest location has greater solar potential for both passive and active systems.

This property is off market, which means it's not currently listed for sale or rent on Zillow. This may be different from what's available on other websites or public sources.
