On August 10, 2013, the State Historic Preservation office approved Westwood Hills' application to be named the first city to be a Historic District in the state of Kansas. As of November, the city should be listed on the National Register. Westwood Hills is a unique and quaint community with all the benefits of living in Kansas but just minutes from the prestigious and historic Country Club Plaza as well as midtown and downtown. The public schools are top notch but there are plenty of great private schools in the area.
