The upstairs apartment This one bedroom apartment was recently renovated, is in a great location, and would make an amazing bachelor(ette) pad. The house was originally built in 1888, so the rooms have "Dutch" ceilings. There is a new bathroom, with a new sink, a new glass block window, new tub and tile surround. The kitchen has new countertops, fixtures, and stove. There is new flooring throughout. Where I could, I saved the original hardware and trim to maintain the feel of this wonderful old house. The house is one block from the river and from Howard Park with the ice path, restaurants, river walk, and bike trails. The apartment is one block from Barnaby's pizza, home of great pizza and the best meatball sandwich in South Bend. There are several more restaurants and shops within six blocks, including Macri's Deli, The Lauber, and the barcade. Downtown is an easy ten minute walk, though it may take longer coming home if you went downtown to hit the bars. Rent includes water, trash, gas hot water, partial heat, all exterior yard work and most of the snow removal. Tennant pays electric and data/cable, and cleans their own steps in the winter. The apartment is not air conditioned, but there are several window units available for loan. Street parking only, but there is ample space as there is a church across the street and traffic is very light. Small pets may be negotiable. Basement bicycle storage is available upon request.
