this is a beautiful quad level on a wonderful wooded lot. There is a fast flowing creek running through the back yard, for over 600 feet, rock and sand bottom. Seawalled on both banks. The floors are either oak, Spanish tile, slate, or Italian marble (dining room.) The walls are thick plaster with metal mesh backing. The exterior is thick, old growth tongue/groove redwood. The structural house is made of yellow pine. The builder (now his heirs) owed a large lumber concern (Banks lumber) and built the house in 1952 for his own occupancy. The house has a new bright red standing seam Kynar steel roof. Two huge fireplaces. I have owned this house since 1977. This house was designed by a Chicago architectural firm specifically for the site and it is pleasing to see and a joy to live in. Neighborhood Description This property is located pn State Road 120, between Pine Creek and the St. Joseph River, in a residential area apart from the city limit of Elkhart. The neighborhood is quiet and rural. There are no families with children for at least 1/2 mile. In the 25 years I have lived here there has been one tricker-treater in Halloween, this was 20 years ago. The neighbors are mostly empter nesters, and many spend the cold months south. The nearest neighbor to me is 1/4 mile or more. The area is a oak/hickory forest approx 50-75 years old, some pine trees. The creek and River ravines are steep and drainage is excellant. The soil is rich but sandy. Water table is conductive to good wells.
This property is off market, which means it's not currently listed for sale or rent on Zillow. This may be different from what's available on other websites or public sources.
