    What's special

WOW. JUST PLAIN WOW! OPEN SAT JUNE 17 3-5 PM. This home was built @1892 and first owned by Elmer and Nora Jones. He was an attorney and served in the first Utah State Senate in 1896. Then the Straup's bought it and moved in. He also was an attorney and was elected Justice of the Supreme Court of Utah. He served for 22 years in that position and at the time of his death he was a professor of law at the University of Utah and President of the Salt Lake Unitarian Church. His wife was President of the Ladies Literary Society and the Women's Republican Club. It's a 3 story Victorian with a basement, built in a time when furniture and decor was made by hand or by machine workers who took personal pride in their work. This home's design is similar to a Queen Anne but has an original Eastlake banister! (Chas. Eastlake, a British architect HATED the Victorian Rococo and Renaissance styles of his time and designed simpler lined furniture and buildings.) There is original and found stained glass throughout, and a surprise vaulted attic that may have been a family BALLROOM! The home has been painstakingly updated and restored and a new two car garage is off the back alley. The kitchen is a cooks paradise with a Thermador range with dual-fuel gas burners and an electric oven. The carriage house next to it can be a chicken coop? There is also a current survey that sellers will share with buyers. These kinds of architectural treasures RARELY come up for sale in this market-HURRY!
