    An actual summer house just off of I55. This Doll House is in a little known hidden gem of a hamlet in unincorporated Plainfield. The lots are huge. All streets dead end at a wild life preserve/prairie reclamation with a mowed walking path that runs along a large creek. The creek runs under Renwick rd to the Lake Renwick bird Sanctuary so you see birds you will see nowhere else. The prairie reclamation is a view you just wont find. These houses were built back in the 1930's as summer houses to get away from the city. When i moved in 10 years ago, most of the neighbors seemed to be in there 80s and had been here for a very long time, so the water must be good. Young couples with children are moving in now and house rehabbers are on a few streets. I redecorated, pretty much everything, when i moved in. Floors, paint, though it needs new paint now as it has been 9 years. The new roof was a few years back and was expensive and the deck was installed by a master carpenter. The yard is surrounded by old growth giant trees and the center is open so its perfect for gardening. The soil is excellent. There are kids riding bikes up and down the street as there is no traffic due to the streets all leading to the prairie. This house is one house off the prairie/creek path but the neighbors is set back a little so you can see the prairie from the kitchen window, front door and upstairs. All of the neighbors talk about is how we cant believe we found such a nice place that no one seems to know exists. Pizza guys, house guests, people who accidentally made the wrong turn, all get out of there vehicles and are just astonished at the set up here. Its honestly a one of a kind experience. There is a shed out building and a cellar which you access from the outside but it goes underneath the house and is all cement and possibly stone. I havent done much in the cellar except we had a new sub pump installed and the hole that it goes in, jack hammered out really good so, its dry. When its 80 degrees, you will not run the ac as the house is shaded by big trees. Maybe the best thing about this particular spot, besides the view and general feeling of spiritual well being, is the yard in Summer on the hottest of days at about 3:30, goes totally cool. The sun basically goes down at 3:30 and the yard is shady and cool due to the huge trees that line the property. This is a very special property and little hamlet of a neighborhood. Even if you dont like this house, i would recommend literally taking a stroll down a couple of streets and have a walk down the path around the preserve. The path runs along the creek. Oh, and when the creek is high you will see people kayak from time to time and there are definitely Bass in there and trout for sure. The kitchen and dining area are right off the deck and the next room is the living room. The bathroom and 2 bedrooms are off the living room and front door. The upstairs is a giant dormer that runs the length of the house that could be converted easily into 2 bedrooms. I live alone so its just used for storage.
