We are looking for a Black male housemate in our gay household in the Detroit's North End near New Center. One spacious 2nd floor bedroom and the 3rd floor suite are available. Occupancy dates: December 1, 2024 and another one on January 1, 2025. You would be living with three male housemates and an additional male housemate who is away about half the time. There is another part-time housemate, Ted, a black lab mix (11 years old and 60 lbs). Depending on the current mix of housemates, we have occasional household dinners, brunches, or movie nights. Everyone has their own bedroom and there is an extra bedroom for guests. You would sign a one-year lease, after which it automatically becomes month-to-month with a 1.5-month notice period. Convenient location 1 block east of Woodward and a 13-minute walk to Grand Blvd. Minutes via bicycle, bus, scooter, skateboard or train to Midtown or downtown, perfect if you don't own a car. Bicycles are available for use by housemates and their guests. As mentioned, we are a gay/queer household so you must either be gay or gay-friendly. The security deposit is $550, to be paid when lease is signed. Rent is $550 a month, to be paid the day you get keys and move in. All utilities are included, as are household cleaning supplies, so compare this rent is comparable to others at $400 to $450 that do not include utilities. We've named this recently restored 115-year-old home "Grace." There are two full baths, one with a shower and the other a clawfoot tub. No indoor cigarette smokers please. Applicants must authorize an online background check that covers credit, criminal, and housing eviction histories and costs $45, which is refunded if you don't end up signing a lease for any reason.
