    Step back in time to this 1930’s log cabin in the woods on nearly a half acre of land. A prior owner told the current owner that the original builder was a Norwegian carpenter but this information was never verified. Logs and stone for the fireplace were locally sourced. The logs were also hand-hewn and the chinking was dried moss. Hand crafted features include doorknobs carved from saplings and curved small tree trunk for the stair banister. Original paned windows throughout the cabin. Covered entry on the Sampson Street side with a small deck. The location is in Welches on a wooded lot. This rustic charmer needs some TLC and updates. A bathroom was added on at some point but the date is unknown. The main structure features a living room area, kitchen and a loft upstairs for sleeping. A stone fireplace is the centerpiece of the living room with high vaulted ceilings and horizontal log beams. The fireplace is a double flue according to the owner and at one time had a wood cook stove in the kitchen. Although rustic, the kitchen does have a frig and stove along with some decorative tile along the backsplash. The original wood floors glow. A curved log tree trunk hand rail is one of the most unique features of the cabin. Upstairs is an open loft for sleeping. A bumper out dormer and skylight at the stairs brings extra storage and light. There's a tiny closet tucked in next to the stone chimney too. Recent improvements include a brand new well and an upgraded electrical panel. A spacious log sided outbuilding would make a great office or storage area. The holding tank for the new well is located in this structure. The legal address is on E. Sampson Street but a more easily accessible driveway is off E. Chambreau Road and that's what everyone uses!
