1. Description Nestled in the town of Woodstock and the Catskill Park, 100 miles upstream from New York City, this storybook cottage offers scenic views of Mount Guardian and is just a walk away from Sawkill Creek and the newly renovated Bearsville Center (with its iconic music theater, weekend festivals, fine restaurants, and woodland pathways). The fabled Byrdcliffe Art Colony (former home of Bob Dylan) is only a mile down the road and Woodstock's Village Green, adjacent shops and marvelous bistros but a mile and a half away. This very special cottage was built by Edward Ballantine (EJ), the Scottish-born actor, director, sculptor, and one of the organizers of the Maverick Concert Hall. While in England EJ also directed and acted in George Bernard Shaws plays. When EJ returned to the states he directed and acted in the American Playwright, Eugene O'Neills "S.S. Glencairn". It is also reported that Eugene O'Neill lent a hand building the cottage. Newly and beautifully renovated, it boasts a fully-equipped kitchen, with stainless steel appliances, a full-size washer and dryer, dishwasher, plenty of counter space, and a back door leading to a fenced-in, gated and lush backyard with a stone patio and firepit. You'll find wide plank wooden floors throughout the cottage (original but refinished), new Pella windows and, in the living room, a fireplace and huge 8' by 8' french window panels (with screens). Oh yeah, there's also a deck and a small front porch by the lovely front yard. As charming as it gets. There are 3 rooms that could be bedrooms, an office, or whatever suits your fancy. Everyone who has lived in the cottage has lived differently. There are wall split-air conditioner systems, a large attic for "accumulators" and a cellar best suited for bicycles, tools, etc. For NYC commuters, the Trailway bus stops at the end of Ballantine Lane (if you're nice to the driver, that is). Otherwise, less than a quarter mile down the road at the Cub Market. 2. Boring but Essential Housekeeping: Credit Check, Financial and Employment History required Tenant pays for Utilities.
