Gorgeous, happy house for rent in Montford. Charming Richard Sharp Smith design. About 1,260 sq. ft. 2 bedrooms, 1 1/2 bathrooms. High ceilings. Beautiful golden-red hardwood floors. Whole house is full of sun and light. Lots of large windows. Living room has built-in desk for your computer or TV. Living room also has fireplace that is no longer used. Nice mantel. Dining room opens to sweet, small cat patio, outside but still enclosed. Kitchen is open, with tile and butcher-block counters, and a window. New dishwasher; new microwave; new electric range, garbage disposal, and electric kettle. Full size washer and dryer in downstairs bathroom. Stunning master bedroom with high, vaulted ceiling, easily holds a king-sized bed and big dresser. Both bedrooms have nice closets. Upstairs bathroom has original cast-iron tub with an added shower, and a window. Sleeping porch upstairs is a great bonus space for a small home office. Sleeping porch has a tree-house type view with windows on three sides, is flooded with light, and overlooks a lush back yard with huge, mature rhododendrons and river birch trees. Strong central air conditioning throughout. Upstairs master bedroom also has a quiet, modern window A/C unit. Ceiling fans upstairs and down. Nice basement is clean, dry, and well lit, with shelves and room for storage. Gas furnace and gas hot water heater in basement. Nice front porch. Low maintenance yard with mature trees. Small, fenced-in side yard, with garden shed. Large, wooded back yard, with fire pit. Full driveway, with off-street parking for one vehicle. Lovely and desirable Montford neighborhood, just north of downtown. The Montford Historic District is a wonderful, walkable place that has wide sidewalks and huge shade trees throughout. And this really is the best location in Montford! You're a five or ten minute walk to all the fun downtown, but still on a super-quiet, low-traffic, side street that's never used as a main artery. So you have easy access to Pack Library and all the restaurants, bistros, brew pubs, ice cream, chocolate shops, art galleries, and clothing boutiques downtown, but none of the noise or traffic when it's time to come home. Quick ten-minute walk to Trader Joe's and Whole Foods. Just one block from the lovely Reed Creek Greenway Walking Trail, which takes you on foot up to the Botanical Gardens. And just ten or fifteen minutes walking up Cumberland gets you to Montford Park, with picnic tables, tennis courts, and dog walkers. Nearby, the Montford Center has tennis courts, a climbing wall, and an outdoor amphitheater for your summer evenings of Shakespeare In The Park. Montford also has a lively, active neighborhood association, as well as its own listserv. You can also go on guided architectural walking tours to explore Montford and Riverside Cemetery. Most of the houses in Montford were built between 1890 and 1920. They showcase a wide variety of styles, because Asheville was quite cosmopolitan back then at the turn of the 20th century. Asheville architect Richard Sharp Smith built this house in 1916 - and many other local residences - after he supervised construction of the Biltmore House. House is available immediately. This is an unfurnished, long-term rental. Rent: $2,950 per month. No smoking. One or two cats are okay. Small, well behaved, *quiet* dog might be allowed, but *only* with our prior approval. One year lease. Utilities not included. Tenant is responsible for power, gas, water/sewage, and internet. Application and credit check required. Application fee: $30. Security deposit: $3,150. For more information or for an appointment to see the house, please call Laura at the number given below. Phone calls only, please. No emails answered due to spam. If you get our answering machine, please leave a message and we will call you right back. Address is 24 Woodlawn Ave., Asheville, NC 28801. This ad will be removed as soon as the house is rented. If you're viewing this ad, the house is still available for rent.
