An 1871 shotgun joined to a neighboring 40 y.o. stucture, all in excellent condition, for a total of over 2500 sq ft. New areas covered in ceramic, old area red pine floors. Much cypress. Four old fireplaces, restored to original appearance, but not functional. Old house has 12 ft ceilings. New parts have four Amana motel-type heat pumps. Neighborhood Description This is historic Faubourg Marigny -- one of the oldest neighborhoods in New Orleans, situated immediately downriver from the French Quarter. It's an "artsy" neighborhood -- painters, sculptors, musicians, writers. Our house is only two bloscks from the River, so it's on the highest ground in New Orleans. This neighborhood DID NOT FLOOD during Katrina. The only damage our house sustained was due to loss of shingles on the roof (all fully repaired now).
