    What's special

Vintage craftsman-style detailing throughoutCraftsman-style architectureSpacious feeling

Charming, classic Ocean Park/Santa Monica Triplex. Original 9 foot ceilings, 10 double-hung windows for lots of light and hardwood floors throughout. CRAFTSMAN-style architecture. House built in 1915. NEWLY RENOVATED KITCHEN with natural gas stove and brand new energy-efficient appliances: LG washer/dryer, refrigerator with ice maker, microwave and dishwasher. Yard is very large, 1000 sq ft. Gated parking.. Storage available. The Space: This is more like a home with its own entrance and the spacious feeling offered by 9 foot ceilings. This apartment, a one-bedroom with a large living space is more a home than an apartment. It is as big as other two bedroom houses in the area, and it is on the ground floor with its own front and back private entrances. Gated Parking is behind the house. THE NEWLY RENOVATED KITCHEN is a 15' long galley kitchen with a 10 foot butcher block countertop, natural gas stove and new appliances: LG full size washer/dryer, LG large refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher. French doors open to the backyard, garden and ocean breezes from the west. Your parking is directly behind teh back door. Our large, semi-private backyard and garden features furniture, tables. fruit trees and BBQ options. Only two other apartments share this yard. Lots of room and sun. Very Zen. A hidden roll-away Brass Bed for two is a great surprise for guests and the relatives. Very useful! The floors are original California oak hardwood and vintage detailing is built-in throughout the apartment. - Enclosed sun porch has morning sun and windows on three sides. This is a bonus room, an enclossed porch built circa 1920. Makes a great, light-filled office. - 30 sf walk-in closet. - 45 sf storage closet. - 90" tall pantry and storage in kitchen - The built-in China cabinet and bookshelves define the dining/living rooms and character of the place. The Area: It is easy here to get outside and to get some exercise. Hotchkiss Park is 300' feet from the house. We are very grateful. Ocean Park, our small neighborhood subdivision of Santa Monica, is rarely hot (ocean breeze), has good air quality and offers great access to the outdoors: 8 miles of walkable public beach, boardwalk, 18 mile bike path, volleyball, surfing and local services. It is the only part of Santa Monica where you can walk to the beach without crossing a major highway. The house is a very short five blocks to the sand, sea and bike path -- It's easy to get out and have a break, some really good fun and watch the sunset. On a street with historic single family homes and apartment buildings, this 105 year old beach house has kept its vintage feel and its old soul. It is a very cheerful place, made entirely of old California wood, on top of the first hill from the water's edge. The daily breeze is the best. The house is also three short blocks from Santa Monica's vintage/chic Main Street with tons of coffee shops and good food. Most of them are open for outdoor service. There is Mexican and French fine dining as well as Irish bars, German deli and Italian gelato up and down the street. Some of the merchandise shops are appointment-only. Most of the restaurants are doing take out as well. It is a weekend destination for people who live further inland as it is usually 20 degrees cooler than places just a mile from here because of the water. The average temperature is around 70. There are three parks in the immediate area and three Farmers Markets each week with locally grown organic produce and entertainment. The parks have become a great gathering place for people to get together for food with friends or to just enjoy an afternoon in the sun. It looks like an old French painting (with Palm trees). This is a terrific place to eat well, live well and be healthy. From here, it is a 15 minute walk to the famous Santa Monica Pier, alternative and main stream cinema screens and The Promenade with brand-name shopping including Apple and Google stores. Celebrities support the local vintage "Aero" Theatre, showing old films and talking to the the people who made them, including the stars. Transportation improvement has been the focus of Santa Monica for the last several years. The following are four options for those wishing to leave their cars and be free to go where ever they choose: - Bike friendly streets are ubiquitous here. It's a City priority. - Electric scooters and bikes are everywhere. Santa Monica is fairly flat as easy to get around. Bike support is a City priority. - Waymo self-driving cars are also here and thriving. - New Expo train line to downtown LA in 47 minutes. - 1/2 mile to US-10 (Santa Monica) freeway if you do want to drive. We are also only five miles from the largest boat and yacht marina in California and three miles from the local public golf course. Public tennis courts are next to the beach and nicely kept. LAX International Airport is a 20 min drive from the house. Santa Monica is an international tourist destination, so everything is here, but it still remains a small town feeling in Ocean Park, our neighborhood. This apartment is more intimate (only 3 units in the building) and has more character and more privacy than the larger 5-50 unit complexes. Each apartment has a separate entrance to the street. The yard is charming, unique, very quiet and private. The bonus room was originally a sun porch and makes a great office. The additional square footage makes it of comparable size to 2 bedroom apartments in the area. Cars: Gated, off-street parking is available. Permit-only street parking is plentiful. Many forms of alternative, easily accessible transportation are provided in this neighborhood. For some, the trend is moving toward not owning vehicles. Santa Monica and downtown Los Angeles are easy to access with the new transportation. Terms: Includes gated parking Two month security deposit. Storage available on property. By appt. Please call to arrange. One year lease. Two month security deposit.
