If you want a change of pace, to slow down, and enjoy country living, I have the perfect home for you! We purchased this home in 2000. It was abandoned and in need of some TLC. We fell in love with it the minute we saw it because we could envision its potential. We completely renovated the whole home except the basement. We replaced all of the windows, wiring, and plumbing at the time and took all of the plaster off the walls. We re-insulated the whole house and stripped and varnished all of the woodwork, floors, and stairway. The roof is currently 5 years old and has one layer of shingles on it. There is a full basement under the house with 9' ceilings. It has a cement floor and cement brick walls. Everyone that walks through our home is amazed at the basements size and how solid it is. The original coal furnace is still located in one of the basement rooms. Our basement is used for storage. There are two large outbuildings on our acreage. There is a large, 36'X60' heated shop and also another 24'X40' out building that we use for our horses. Both of these buildings have cement floors. Our home is located between Corning and Lenox, Iowa. We are 10 minutes from Lenox and 15 minutes from Corning. Bedford and Creston, Iowa are about 20-25 minutes from our home as well. We are in the Lenox Community School District. Lenox is a progressive district with the community being "all in" when supporting the school. The school just passed a bond issue and is adding 6 classrooms, another gym, stadium, Career and Technical Ed classrooms/area, moving and updating the weight room and wrestling room, and more. All 4 of our boys attended the Lenox School District and I have taught kindergarten there for 32 years. I couldn't think of a better community to raise a family in.
