A rambler with a daylight basement on two levels (each 2,108 square feet) totaling 4,216 square feet. As the front of the house faces the street, it is deceptive that the house has a second level until you happen to look at the side of the house. From the front of the house, the lower level is hidden beneath the ground. The daylight basement appears at the side of the house that clearly shows a lower level. The lower level has high ceilings. The back of the house on both levels opens to the Puget Sound with unobstructed views of Gig Harbor, Tacoma Narrows Bridge, and the Olympic Mountains. The back of the upper level opens to a deck that extends from one end of the house to the other. The deck has glass panels between columns, while the back of the lower level opens to a patio with an airtight cedar ceiling. So, when it rains, the water on the deck doesn't seep down to the patio below. So, you can barbeque on the patio protected from the rain! What’s so unique is that the back yard is on a hill (green belt) that slopes about 45 degrees down (200 feet) to the coast line.. (All other houses are on cliffs with no slopes and thus, limited access to the beach below.) The hill has two main tiers leading down to the bottom. For peace of mind, we reinforced and protected the hill from possible erosion due to inclement weather and created more accessibility to the beach below. We built retaining walls with 75 lb concrete garden blocks. We installed adequate drainage using corrugated piping all along the perimeters. We built stairs using 20 lb concrete garden blocks leading down to the bottom of the hill. The back yard has a flight of wooden stairs leading down to the first tier. The first tier is a place to getaway with its own secret garden, court yard, chain linked fence, and other relaxing comforts all of which are hidden from view. Birds of all kinds find comfort here. Neighborhood Description The most desirable neighborhood to live in Tacoma city limits, Vista View Drive became the most talked about, and it wasn't because of spectacular views of Puget Sound, Tacoma Narrows Bridge, Gig Harbor, and the Olympic Mountains! Because the views were extremely territorial, Vista View Drive gained a lot of attention and raised a lot of eyebrows when a judge ordered a newly constructed house removed because the roof was too high! The house was removed in 4 parts! The last of the empty lot, the land continues to sit empty to this day! One of Tacoma's best tourist attraction, the corner of Vista View Drive used to be home to Yanni, the composer (Actress Linda Evan’s ex boyfriend). Highly popular neighborhood where houses are rarely for sale, but when they do, it gets picked up right away! Popularity is demonstrated by kids flocking in from other neighborhoods and chauffeured by their parents every Halloween! Vista View Drive is truly the place to be!
