    What's special

The owner purchased this colonial-style home in 1985. The home is sited on a corner lot only five blocks from Tampa Bay and about a mile from vibrant downtown St. Pete. Having residing here for more than three decades, we can’t imagine a better place to live in the county. Rather than move to a larger and more modern home, we decided in 2008 to renovate, upgrade, enlarge, and re-landscape. The materials in the home are essentially new except for the re-inforced foundation and chimney! This includes: new exterior (hardyboard), new interior walls with insulation, new electrical and plumbing throughout house, new hardwood floors throughout, new hurricane windows, new trim and moldings throughout the house, new screened porch, new applicances, new ceiling fans, new central AC, and new bathrooms and fixtures. To make the home more spacious and livable, all three bedrooms were redesigned and expanded, as was the kitchen dining area. Master bedroom has large walk-in closet. There are two studies, one the former sunroom and the other attached to the master bedroom. (The upstairs study could easily serve as a baby or infant's room). Recently we completed an extensive renovation of the front and side yards. The front includes a masonry, fountain-sized planter in coordinated colors. A beautiful display of multi-colored pavers lead to the front entrance as well as to the side yards. A small patio area created with pavers lies to the left side of the house. Lovely, restored bricks (circa 1925) line garden beds containing a rich variety of plants, shrubs, and flowers. Red brick pavers now provide a lovely border around the house's perimeter, giving definition to this corner lot. In 2015, we added a masonry fountain amidst the pavers on the east side of the home, which brings an air of freshness and sounds of running water to the yard. The front of the house is well shaded by water oaks. In 2011, long-needled pines were planted along the east and south street sides. The 2008 home renovations used highest quality materials. In 2021, we completed extensive renovation on our back yard. First, we enclosed the back yard in a new masonry wall. Second, we had Tropicana install a large screened-in area for outdoor enjoyment sans mosquitos. Third, within the screen enclosure we installed a 14 x 8 foot Thermaspas "diamond" swim spa that doubles as an exercise facility and 8-person hot tub. The spa is top-of-the-line and has powerful jets that permit a vigorous swim workout. As mentioned, ours is essentially a new home despite its technical age of 100 years.
