3 bed, 2 bath + bonus room duplex unit. Large yard and deck. Available is the lower unit of a 6 bedroom, 4 bath house in the open and woodsy Wedgwood neighborhood, just south of Lake City. Easy access to both downtown and UW via public transportation, and a very short drive from the new light rail stations that will be opening in Roosevelt and Northgate. Google Maps says you can bike to Roosevelt Station in 16 mins. Also walkable to central Wedgwood, which includes some restaurants and shops and a Rite-Aid. Unfortunately, they closed our walkable QFC last month, but there is a Safeway about a mile down the road. Bring your outdoor projects and hobbies! The unit has a wraparound deck and sits on a property with ample outdoor space. Over the covid winter, I built a shelter containing a fireplace (see pics) which is available for your use, and I'm building planter beds for gardening right now. We're walkable to several community-maintained trailheads into the Thornton Creek Natural Area, and both Matthews Beach and the East shore of Greenlake are our regular summertime haunts. Neighborhood schools are Wedgwood Elementary, Eckstein Middle and Nathan Hale High. Other perks and stuff: -- We subsidize electricity for the portion of the unit that shares its circuit with the upstairs (that's two bedrooms, one bathroom and the den -- the portion of the unit with vaulted ceilings was actually built as a mother-in-law and is on its own circuit). -- Private utility room with washer, dryer and utility sink. -- Shared indoor storage space. -- Fiber internet included. -- BBQ grill and patio furniture for the deck (for your private use). -- Shared use of entire outdoor space, including cafe-lighted and grapevine-covered pergola out front, fireplace shack out back, and however many garden beds you want to manage. (I'm building three, but can add more.) -- Living room and kitchen have lofted ceilings with skylights. -- Lots of edible things all over the yard: Rainier cherry trees, grape vines, rosemary, lavender, plum trees, and (though we hate them and want to destroy them) blackberries galore. Our ideal tenants will be good neighbors to the community here and have an interest in investing in the neighborhood during their stay. Occasionally, the yard is used to host neighborhood gatherings. Presently, we host a free lunch for neighbors who are un- or underemployed on Wednesdays. If you have cool ideas for projects, we can help you execute them! We are a family of four, including two girls ages 5 and 0, and we occupy the unit upstairs. We do not own this house; we rent from a property management company and they allow us to sublet the downstairs. Property management requires minimum income of 3X rent. First and last months rent required for move-in + $2200 deposit. There is off-street parking for up to two vehicles, but plenty of on-street parking as well. Small cats and dogs are okay with approval and $50 - $75 pet rent, depending on size of animal (property manager's policy, not ours!) Fiber internet, water / sewer/ garbage, and electricity for the basement portion of the unit are included. (Electricity for the mother-in-law / vaulted ceiling portion is NOT included.)
This property is off market, which means it's not currently listed for sale or rent on Zillow. This may be different from what's available on other websites or public sources.
