Individual room with use of 2 shared bathrooms (cleaned weekly by owner) Welcome to this Queen Anne style Victorian mansion designed and built by famed architect Joseph Dise; this York County architect was best known for building the Raymond and Campbell Stove Works company brothers' mansions (one of which is now Alfred's Victorian Restaurant), multiple mansions for executives with the historic American Tube and Iron Company, multiple Dauphin and York County mansions, the Middletown bank building (currently now The Brownstone Cafe), and various ornate structures. The mansion was built in 1894 for Thomas M. Yost, Esq. and became a gift that he bestowed to his daughter Bertha upon marriage to Dr. Henry H. Rhodes, a prominent Doctor from Harrisburg. This mansion has a rich history of housing successful Doctors who have practiced and used this property as both commercial Doctor's offices as well as living quarters over the years. Notably the first was Dr. Henry H. Rhoads who practiced medicine and resided in the mansion from the 1890's until the early 1930's. A total of 8 large Brownstone pillars adorn the front of the mansion in Italianesque style. Decorative combination of brownstone and brick with ornate flower design features on the largest chimney. The 2nd and 3rd floor of the Mansion are individual rooms rentals. A mixture of rooms with private baths and shared baths. All tenants can use and enjoy the shared kitchen and living room areas provided just for them. These rooms are accessed through 2 private entrances so they do not disturb the main living area. A charming carriage house with 2 apartments is also located on the property.
