    This unique and historic Greenview home was built in the Spanish Colonial Revival Style, popular from 1915 to 1940. It is the only such example in the Menard County area. The home was built by Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Hatch, whose families figured prominently in the early settlement and commerce within Greenview and Menard County. After purchasing the lots in 1925, they had the home designed and built, moving into the residence in May of 1926. An article featuring Greenview news from the May 15, 1926 issue of The Daily Pantagraph of Bloomington reads: “Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Hatch moved Monday, in their new Spanish bungalow, which was recently completed in the east part of town.” Hatch and other family members were prominent in area business and he was a major stockholder in the Greenview Mining Company, producing the “Celebrated Greenview Coal.” The home’s stucco exterior features Spanish Revival elements resembling Pueblo architecture, with a tiled entry porch, post-and-beam decorative ornamentation and a side entrance with archway. While the exterior is designed in Spanish Revival, the interior is styled in traditional Arts and Crafts design. The foyer, living and dining rooms feature beautiful quarter sawn oak woodwork, a pair of French doors, crown molding and a noteworthy working fireplace with oak mantel—all original. The floors in these rooms boast original quarter sawn narrow oak planks. In addition to the foyer, living and dining rooms mentioned above, the home has a large kitchen, three roomy bedrooms with hardwood floors, an additional sunken living room, one full and one-half bath and basement shower. Full basement offering many possibilities. Gas furnace and water heater. For the past forty-five years, the home has been occupied by the late Sharon Davis and family. For decades, Sharon was one of Greenview’s most community involved citizens and this home a landmark residence. Sold As Is.
