This is a turn-key, off-grid, solar powered retreat/residence and most likely the most affordable home in the United States. Unlike a lot of properties in the San Luis Valley on the market, you can reside here from day one as there is a legal street address. It's a tiny house (128 SF) that is well insulated and has been given a cheerful southwestern veneer. There is 400 watts of solar power with a 1500/3000 inverter and plenty of batteries to get you through the very rare stretches of cloudy days. The building was built with a legal permit, and the outhouse is actually a vaulted toilet which means that you don't need to put a septic in to live out here according to a grandfather exemption given to this community from the county back in 2012. It has legal access from the county and has a mailbox for the property that is on Highway 17. This 1 acre lot is on the very SE edge of the Mineral Hotsprings Estates (which is just south of Joyful Journey, zillow has it wrong), so you have wide open views to the mountains that makes it seems like you own a whole lot more land than you actually do. I put a rather attractive tree bark style privacy fence on the west and north sides of the house to provide a maximum feeling of privacy and well being. It is totally livable as is and only a 90 second drive to joyful journey, making it an excellent spot for short term profits (a nearby cabin is frequently rented at $70/night). The neighborhood is mostly aging hermits that keep to themselves. We have no illegal pot growers or other low-lifes on this side of the highway. Well permit filed with Department of Water Resources.
This property is off market, which means it's not currently listed for sale or rent on Zillow. This may be different from what's available on other websites or public sources.
