    What's special

Spacious and peaceful oasis for city living, gorgeous outdoor patio just for tenant use, shares view of lushly landscaped yard, with roses, honeysuckle and towering trees. Owner occupied 3 story brownstone in historically designated district of Prospect Heights. Wide building (20') gives roomy feeling (by New York standards) to this apartment. As well, extra deep lots between Park Place and Prospect Place give a country like feel in the back, with bird song, mature trees, like a French country garden. Your entrance is below the stoop, which my family only uses when using bikes, or going to basement. A small common hall with wainscoting leads to both entrances to your apartment. The entrance in back of the apartment opens to an alcove with shelves and room for desk (or crib!) Off of this alcove is the kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and hall leading to outside space. There is also a front entrance which may or may not be used, with heavy sliding pocket doors. The kitchen can also be entered from the living room and there is a small pass through from kitchen to living room, so the spaces have a separation but are convenient and don't have the often "cookie cutter" look of many renovated kitchen/living room spaces in this price range. Other period details include wainscoting in the living room and alcove, a built in food pantry, decorative wood moulding throughout. In the living room there is a tiled fireplace with mirror and mantle, which has a cover of antique iron art work as well as a tasteful light fixture surrounded by ceiling detail. The bedroom in back looks out on the garden and is unusually quiet. Use of large washer and dryer in the basement (shared with my family) one floor below the apartment, along with ample storage space if needed. Kitchen has a brand new (and new model) GE 5 burner stove with many wonderful features such as air fry, convection baking and so on. There are also oak cabinets and a dishwasher. Floors throughout are old pine planks and lend a warmth and vintage feel. . The bath is windowed to back, and has an original soaking- friendly extra deep claw foot tub. I love animals and am happy to welcome you and pet, upon approval. Prospect Heights is a very special neighborhood with a diverse gender, age, socioeconomic and racial makeup. My block is flanked by vibrant Vanderbilt Ave, which now has closed off "city streets" on weekends, a great mixture of people: families, singles, kids, the best of New York. There are cafes, shops galore, home made bagel store on corner, world class restaurants mixed with popular taco shops, and green--lots of trees and flowers! Beautiful Prospect Park is minutes away as well as the main Brooklyn library and museum, and Brooklyn Botanical Garden provides a peaceful and meditative respite within a 10 minute walk. Park Slope with all of it has to offer is easy stroll. Train connections are the best in Brooklyn with the 2,3, B, Q lines, easy connections to 3,4--20 minutes to Union Square, less to Wall Street. You don't have to depend on just one train, the major lines in Manhattan are available within couple blocks of apartment. The apartment is available now but I am open and flexible re your timeline needs. I am showing by appointment due to Covid (no open houses and spacing appointments). My husband and I lovingly restored this fixer upper many years ago, and I am diligent about any tenant apartment repairs as I am about my own house. My former tenants were here for 7 years, and my first tenants 26 years ago stayed 13 years, so I am eager to welcome new tenant(s) to this lovely home.
