Traditionally South Chatham has been a rural, primarily summer neigborhood. Now many of the smaller cottages have been rebuilt, and a growing number of homes are maintained year round. Less than 3/10ths of a mile away is the town maintained Pleasant St. beach. To the east and west, the area is bounded by salt marshes within easy walking distances and specutacular views over Nantucket Sound. For swimming, small boating and kyaking, wind-surfing and kite boarding are all excellent in this area!
