Welcome home to the Anna E Kidd House circa 1884. This Freedman's cottage survived the earthquake of 1886 without damage and was continuously owned and occupied by a member of the Kidd family for 104 years.In later years the house was damaged by fire and fell into disrepair. Restoration, renovation and addition occurred in 2014. The City of Charleston required a portion of the salvageable structure to be restored. This historic property was very thoughtfully restored and modernized. Once inside you will notice the bright and airy feel of the main living space, as the several windows allow much natural light to filter through. The living space is highlighted by a central, free-standing, double-sided fireplace. The horseshoes displayed on the chimney were found
