My wife and I are a retired physician & nurse and we live in the upper two floors of the home. Upper Garber St is especially quiet because there is a dead end 4 houses to the West, and there is a small park 6 houses to the East which greatly reduce through traffic. In 2025 we remodeled and created a separate-entrance apartment in the basement. The completely furnished unit received a new kitchen quartz countertop, new sink, new garbage disposal, new cabinetry, new induction digital countertop hot plate and induction cookware, all new plates, bowls, cups, and utensils. The bathroom was remodeled to add a new toilet and a screened window (which can be opened) to the existing shower/bathtub. A new premium twin bed, pillow, blanket, comforter, and 2 sets of sheets were added. There is a drop leaf kitchen table with two folding cushioned chairs. There is a medium sized refrigerator/freezer. We installed a programmable convection heater which can be turned on remotely using an app on your phone to a temp you select. The large built-in L-shaped desk has two windows (one screened and can be opened) with views of the upper campus. The desk is serviced by a wheeled adjustable task chair, which rolls smoothly on a plastic mat in the desk area. An interior door in the unit leads to a same-floor hallway where you will find the washer, dryer, and utility sink which are exclusively reserved for the tenant 2 days per week. There are multiple storage drawers and closets in the unit and additional large item storage is available off the hallway. Our keypad-protected garage on the street can be used by the tenant to store a bicycle or motorbike. The 36 or 79 bus stops two blocks away to take riders to the campus, grocery stores, or BART. All utilities and Internet are included. Our previous tenant, who was a college senior, just completed her one year lease and moved out a few days ago. The apartment has been cleaned and is ready for a new tenant. We can show you the unit if you are interested. We will consider 4mo, 6mo, 9mo, or 12 mo durations. First month's rent + security deposit due at signing. Parking on the street is available by permit for $85/year. Smoking and pets are not allowed.
