This listing is for summer interns. Although we are also seeking a long-term tenant from academia or the arts, we'll also offer this unique opportunity to summer interns, this year. Several law students got their first jobs at the top firms after a summer stay in our carriage house. Engineering and other students have also been our summer tenants. The charming and historic 1910 carriage house with its white picket fence and private landscaped courtyard in Montrose/Midtown is a stand-alone 2-story house of over 1000 sf. The downstairs includes the living room with its oak parquet floors, built-in shelves and storage cabinets, the kitchen with appliances, small and large, and plenty of dishes and cookware. There's also a large walk-in closet. Upstairs, you'll have the huge Berber carpeted bedroom with office area, the bathroom, another large walk-in closet, and the washer/dryer. For an intern's summer stay, all utilities (electricity, gas, fast internet) will be paid by the owner (with some reasonable usage rules). The home has central air and heat. The carriage house is furnished with a queen size bed, many shelves, a chest of drawers, 2 desks and file cabinet, a leather couch, a futon couch/bed, dining table & chairs, kitchen utensils, dishes, etc. Items are mostly as shown in the photos, but some substitutions have been made. Our carriage house has its own address, its own street fronting, and the tenant is given one off-street parking space. The convenient location is 2 blocks from a quick-to-downtown bus stop, 12 blocks from the Main/McGowan St. train station, 1 mile from downtown, 2 miles from Rice U., 3 miles from U. Houston, and 3 miles from the Med Center. It is available now for a gentle non-smoking intern or couple without a pet. (It is not well configured for roommates). I'd love to show it to you, but out-of-town interns sometimes have rented it unseen. We're also happy to show it to local friends, family, or employee associates. I know your decision time is short, so please just call Tom (8am-8pm). Do not text! Email is OK but don't expect an immediate response. In all cases, I must learn your full name and a little about your history and goals. At an early point, we'll conduct some friendly negotiations, and you should understand that this is just not a first-come first served offer, especially if you have a short internship starting late in the summer. Agents, managers, other owners, etc.: Please do not inquire about so-called corporate master sub-lease arrangements, about co-hosting or about out buying the property.
This property is off market, which means it's not currently listed for sale or rent on Zillow. This may be different from what's available on other websites or public sources.
