    Nestled in the historic district of Madison, Jefferson, and Green streets in historic downtown Marianna, Florida, you will find 2929 Madison Street. The house was built in 1905 and just turned 118 years old. It is number 35 on Main Street Marianna's tour of historic homes. If you have ever dreamed of living in an old historic home, check this one out. The home has original tiger oak hardwood floors refinished and restored. All the windows have been replaced with new double pane insulated. House is very tight and energy efficient with low utility bills. Roof is metal. Many updates have been added and every attempt has been made to preserve the original charm of the home. There are spacious rooms with twelve foot ceilings and wainscoting on walls in some of the rooms. Toilets and vanities have been replaced and are new. One bathroom is pink ceramic and the other is light green ceramic circa 1950. Both have comfort height toilets. The windows and doors have wide original framing and the baseboards are nine and ten inches. The master, second bedroom, dining room and living room have fireplaces. There are three antique chandeliers in the house. The house has three exterior entrance doors. The outside walls and trim are newly painted. The exterior walls are original wood lapped siding. Above the metal hip roof are three chimneys for the four fireplaces. In the backyard there is a nice size storage shed with new metal roof. This shed has limestone block walls which was a common building material during that era. Some of the supports of the house floor joists are also limestone blocks. These blocks were quarried along the Chipola River which flows on the East side of town not far from the house. Next to the shed is a large wooden pergola with cobblestone floor and walkway from the back porch. A new six foot tall privacy fence (added this year) encloses the entire back yard and most of the South side of the yard. We installed a new five ton HVAC last year covered by a ten year warranty. The house sits on a lot and a half (see legal description). Attached on the North side of the house is a double carport with side entry. A nice size front porch provides entry to a large living room with entries into the rest of the house. The front door, original to the house, is forty two inches wide and features intricate wood carvings. The thresholds at the front two entrances are solid copper and original with the house. The rest of the doors in the house are solid wood six panel. The kitchen has all new solid surface counter tops and a unique antique sink. There is a pantry adjacent to the kitchen. All appliances are new, stainless steel, and are under warranty. We installed a new outside Rinnai natural gas hot water heater for unlimited hot water. The walls are recently painted in colors reflecting the period. We have tried to preserve the quaint beauty of the home while updating it. There are three bedrooms and two baths both with tubs and one has a walk in shower. There are gas logs in the living room and the master bedroom fireplaces. This house is unique in so many ways and we are proud to have kept it that way while updating it for convenient living. The conveniences of living in town include: natural gas, high speed cable internet, cable tv, garbage and trash pick-up, and street sweeping. Please note that this house is for sale by owner only.
