Between 1843 & 1845, Mr. Swigert added a major portion of house in Greek Revival style, reorienting the main entrance onto Washington Street & giving rise to the nickname house within a house''. In 1970 2 sisters occupied it & undertook a major restoration. It was listed on National Register of Historic Places in 1971. The house known as Queen of the Corner'' for its elegance & prominence underwent additional restoration by present owner.
