HISTORY This beautiful Tudor Revival was built for Earl and Lillian Davis circa 1910. Mr. Davis was born in Minnesota in 1875 and moved west to Tacoma as a young man. He worked for his father in the furniture business, first as a salesman and then as the manager of William L. Davis and Sons Furniture. By 1925, Earl had started his own furniture business, Davis & Hollingsworth, located at 20 Tacoma Avenue North (space currently occupied by Tully's and Franco the Tailor). Earl and Lillian Davis resided in the home until Lillian's death in 1957. The Davis House may be eligible for inclusion on the Tacoma Register of Historic Places as an unspoiled example of the Arts and Crafts Tudor Revival style. PROPERTY This Tudor Revival is located on a beautiful tree lined street in a desirable North End neighborhood. NEIGHBORHOOD The Proctor District is one of Tacoma's most celebrated and desirable neighborhoods, offering an urban village experience reminiscent of a simpler time. The area features some great old historic homes and a wonderful mix of owner operated shops and restaurants, including the upscale Metropolitan Market, Chalet Bowl, Rosewood Cafe and the historic Blue Mouse Theater - the oldest continuously operating movie theater in Washington State. The University of Puget Sound serves as an anchor institution in the neighborhood, providing access to a wide variety of academic, athletic and cultural activities. The Proctor District hosts a lively local farmer's market every Saturday from April through November, the second largest farmers market in the city. The neighborhood offers excellent public schools, a couple of great parks and easy access to Point Ruston, Point Defiance Park and downtown Tacoma.
