It took over 6 months to complete the control room and booths. Studio Specs.. Construction: The booths are built with double-wall and double dry-wall construction. The inside of the booths are built of (1) layer of 1/2in drywall sheets, and (1) layer of 5/8in drywall sheets. Those sheets are separated by a thick application of acoustical caulk, which also seals all seams (literally everywhere). Both booths were built separately, floated on their own platforms - the platform built on dense rubber. The platform in between the booths is also floated independently. The Wall in front of all of the booths is completely separate. There is insulation in every side. All insulation in the main walls is made of acoustical fire-bats, a dense rock-wool-like material. The glass windows are 2 thicknesses. There is one sheet of 1/4in glass, and one sheet of 3/8in laminated glass in each booth. The black that is seen around the windows that makes the wall look like it connects is fabric stretched to achieve that illusion. Add added feature typically not seen is heat and AC gets delivered to the booths. This was achieved by running insulated flexible air vents in a spiral through 2 feet of insulation above the booths. Nearly no sound escapes the booths. Stop by and test it. Its amazing! Wiring panels: Wiring panels are under the window on each side. The speakers allow someone to keep an amp head outside and put the amp speaker on the inside. This lets you adjust the amp without going all the way into the booth and lets you hear what it sounds like through the speakers while you're adjusting tone instead of killing your ears standing next to an amp. 4 XLR mic connections come out of each booth. These are used mostly for microphones. They can be cut off at the ends and wired to a patchbay. The TRS connections are outside and the inside connections for each booth are brought back over the snake along with the XLR. They are labeled 5-8. The idea was to give the option to patch line-level signals like guitars from one booth to another. The practical application is to have a guitar singing and guitar playing a guitar in one booth, and have the guitar patched into the other booth where his amp was mic'd up. PVC pipe gives access to the panels and give you the ability to run cables through to behind the booths. If anything needs to be rewired, it should be possible without doing any damage to the construction. flexible
