Originally, the area was originally settled by a family in 1660 but in 1893 the Lefferts estate was divided by James Lefferts into six hundred building lots, now known as Lefferts Manor. As far as transportation is concerned, the 2 and 5 trains at Winthrop and Sterling Street, the Q train at Parkside Avenue and the B, Q and Shuttle trains at Prospect Park are the options offered in Prospect Lefferts Garden. In 2012, the Q train was named the most reliable train by News Channel 12.
