We are looking for people who will move into our home for 10 and a half months while we go live on our sailboat. The rent is below market because we would like to find someone to care for our two cats while we are gone. Other responsibilities may include forwarding mail and notifying someone if repairs are needed. The home is in an ideal location for a year in Minneapolis, a Victorian home on one of the best blocks in the city. One row of houses between you and the most popular city lake, Bde Maka Ska (formerly known as Lake Calhoun). The neighborhood is called Uptown, with many restaurants, a grocery store, a library and shopping within blocks. Yet our street has little traffic because the it does not go thru. One block to bus stop. The house has been maintained as original except for a modern kitchen with large windows looking into a beautiful back yard. The first floor has an elegant feel with high ceilings and old woodwork. There is a large living room with a wood stove, a parlor room and a formal dining room. The kitchen remodel was done in arts and crafts style with reclaimed wide pine wood floors. The kitchen has a Sub Zero refrigerator and an oversized Vent-a-Hood over a 5-burner range. There is a first floor 1/2 bath. There are 4 bedrooms on the second floor. A full bath with claw-foot tub is at the end of the hall. One of the bedrooms has a door to a sleeping porch, screened on three sides with windows that slide open -- a wonderful place to sleep in the summer and listen to the birds. This sleeping porch, many windows and the breeze off the lake have allowed us to get by without air conditioning. Both the front and back have been landscaped with boulders and plants to resemble up-north Minnesota. There is a stone patio and a tree-fort in the backyard. The basement is unfinished but dry with shelves for storage and a workbench. It has a laundry room at the bottom of the laundry chute. One car garage. The neighbors on the street gather together in the warmer months. There is a third floor with a large open space, another bedroom and two attics but we will be storing our personal belongings up there so it would not be included in the rental.
