Welcome home! 315 West End Avenue is a wonderful boutique co-op situated on the corner of West End Avenue and 75th Street - a highly sought after location close to the best the Upper West Side has to offer. Apartment 2A was used as a teaching studio and is currently a large open space but can easily be returned to its original 2-bedroom layout or be converted to a lovely 1-bedroom with an eat-in kitchen or a grand entertaining room with a bedroom in the back. The bathroom has a tub/shower as well as a separate shower that can easily be removed to add a washer/dryer - which the building allows. The apartment currently features beamed ceilings, attractive casement windows facing east over West End Avenue, six closets, many built-ins and a large entrance foyer. Please note, apartments 2A and 3A can be purchased separately or together but cannot be combined. The apartments also have a rich NYC history. Apartments 2A and 3A are the former teaching studio and apartment of the great Marni Nixon. TIME magazine dubbed her the 'Ghostess with the Mostess' as Ms. Nixon was the movie singing 'ghost' voice of Audrey Hepburn in MY FAIR LADY, Natalie Wood in WEST SIDE STORY and Deborah Kerr in THE KING AND I and AN AFFAIR TO REMEMBER. She also dubbed Marilyn Monroe's high notes in 'Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend' in GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES.Before MY FAIR LADY was released in theatres in 1964, Ms. Nixon played Eliza in a revival of the musical at New York City Center. She appeared as Sister Sophia in the movie version of THE SOUND OF MUSIC starring Julie Andrews and received four Emmy Awards for Best Actress for her children's show BOOMERANG (the show received 26 Emmys total), two Gold Records for SONGS OF MARY POPPINS and MULAN and three Grammy Nominations. Ms. Nixon appeared on Broadway in FOLLILES, OPAL, NINE, GIRL IN THE PINK TIGHTS, JAMES JOYCE'S THE DEAD and originated the role of Edna in the Off-Broadway production of TAKING MY TURN, receiving a Drama Desk Award nomination for Best Actress. She performed as a soloist with the New York Philharmonic and gave concerts at Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall and Town Hall in New York City. A pioneer in American modern music, Ms. Nixon worked with Stravinsky and Bernstein and appeared alongside some of 'the great' Hollywood and Broadway stars including Liberace, Victor Borge, Merv Griffin, Kristin Chenoweth, Blythe Danner, Christopher Walken, Eartha Kit and more. In 2012, Ms. Nixon was awarded the George Peabody Award for 'Outstanding Contributions to American Music'.
