    What's special

The Whitlock House is a rare surviving example of a Federal style Virginia farmhouse built in the heart of early Richmond. Its center hall construction and a series of additions over the centuries have created a floor plan with a wonderful flow for contemporary living. However, as much care as has gone into installing modern systems, baths and a high-end custom kitchen, an equal effort has gone into saving the extensive 19th century details evident throughout. Very few houses in the St. John’s District sit on two lots, fewer still offer the option of a first-floor bedroom and bath suite. The basement, with both an original interior staircase and a door directly into the garden, could also accommodate a bedroom and bath suite as well as a workshop reminiscent of the Whitlock House’s days as the original home of the Hand Workshop. The sprawling garden with mature plantings and stately trees includes slate terraces perfect for dining and entertaining. Off the public alley to the rear is more than ample parking and the footprint of an old garage or carriage house.

This property is off market, which means it's not currently listed for sale or rent on Zillow. This may be different from what's available on other websites or public sources.
