A hidden treasure tucked out of sight in Newtown. Built in 1790, just a year after George Washington was inaugurated, it was enlarged in the 1800's and again in the 1900's and restored by the present owner. Three wood burning fireplaces including the cooking fireplace in the basement with its cooking arms used to hang kettles over the fire. There are beautiful hardwood floors throughout except for tiled kitchen and baths. The kitchen is small but designed by the artist-owner to seat two for lunch. The large living and dining rooms each have Federal mantels. Interestingly there are no crown moldings because this was a workingman's house and they didn't have them. There are two BRs on 2nd floor and the attic is finished with a bath and plenty of sleeping space. (Click more for more info)
