Anna's Retreat is a lovingly furnished one-bedroom apartment in St. Louis' magical Tower Grove East neighborhood. Weekly housekeeping is included. The apartment features a top-quality Queen-sized bed. There is a laptop-friendly workspace with high-speed internet. The galley kitchen includes all basics for meal preparation. Take a shower or soak in the 50s-era bathtub. Anna's Retreat has a smart TV, with an antenna for local stations. Anna's Retreat is located on the second floor, and accessible only by stairs. Pets are not allowed in Anna's Retreat. Smoking is prohibited in the apartment or anywhere on the premises. There is no lease, but you must submit a rental application and pay a security deposit. If you don't have your own renter's insurance, you must pay an additional $10.50 per month for "Tenant Liability Insurance." This insurance covers unintentional or accidental damage to the premises, but not to your personal possessions. LAUNDRY & HOUSEKEEPING We provide weekly housekeeping. We will make the bed, swap out dirty towels and linens, dust and vacuum. We do not wash dishes. For your laundry, we recommend Wash Studio, three short blocks from Anna's Retreat. Wash Studio will pick up and deliver your laundry, or you are welcome to use their laundromat. PARKING Parking is free and on-street on the block in front of Anna's Retreat. You will almost always find a parking spot right in front of the building. The spaces between the "30-minute parking" signs are for your car. HISTORIC JEWEL Anna's Retreat is in the Tower Grove East neighborhood, across the street from Compton Heights and its million-dollar mansions. From this location it is easy to walk, bike or take public transit around St. Louis. The Gateway Arch, America's Center, and Downtown St. Louis are less than four miles from here. The world-renowned Missouri Botanical Garden is a delightful 25-minute walk through some of the city's finest historic neighborhoods. Walk to St. Louis University Medical Center. The main campus of St. Louis University is two miles north. Washington University's main campus is about seven miles from here. Barnes Hospital & Washington University Medical Center are about four miles away. Walk to numerous restaurants, coffee houses, shopping and magnificent historic parks. IS IT SAFE? Since all of SF Shannon's vacation rental apartments are in the historic core of St. Louis, we occasionally receive the question: "Is it safe?" This question is impossible to answer, because we typically know nothing about the person asking it. Co-owner Rachel lives a few blocks from Anna's Retreat. She and her her husband raised their daughters in this neighborhood, and have always felt perfectly safe. WHY THAT NAME? Annas Retreat is named after Anna Ullrich. Her father-in-law, Joseph, built the building, and her bedroom was in the actual location of Anna s Retreat. The Ullrich Family operated a bakery on the first floor for the first half of the 20th Century. Thank you for your interest!
