Located on the western slope of Colorado, Grand Junction is surrounded by awe-inspiring natural beauty and a dramatic red rock landscape.  Exhilarating outdoor adventures and stunning golf courses await you.  If you desire a more leisurely pace, you will find peaceful places to reflect and unwind and a charming downtown full of great shops, restaurants, galleries and more.  Welcome to Colorado's wine country. The Grand Valley offers unlimited recreational opportunities, from mountain biking and fishing to rock climbing, horseback riding and camping. Grand Junction has five beautiful golf courses with lush green fairways and elevated tee boxes with distracting views. River rafting enthusiasts and kayakers love to tackle the Colorado River. The Bookcliffs Mountains form the northern wall of the Grand Valley and stretch well into Utah. The Wild Horse Range lies further north and is home to one of the last remaining herds in the country. Long-time residents truly covet a glimpse of even a few of these magnificent horses. On the west end of the valley, Fruita is a popular destination. In May, the town hosts the Annual Fruita Fat Tire Festival, one of the largest mountain bike festivals in Colorado. Grand Junction and Fruita are popular for mountain bikers and visitors seeking to explore the Colorado National Monument. Colorado National Monument preserves some 20,500 acres, and much of which has been recommended to Congress for designation as wilderness. Breathtaking panoramic views and numerous overlooks are offered on the 23-mile historic Rim Rock Drive. Steep-walled canyons, majestic monoliths, bighorn sheep and soaring eagles provide spectacular photography opportunities. Around 275,000 people per year visit Colorado National Monument to enjoy the incredible beauty of this area. Come hike trails that lead across mesa tops to grand overlooks and backcountry canyons. Visitors can picnic and camp here. At 10,000 feet high, Grand Mesa is the largest flat-topped mountain in the world! Lush spruce forests and 200 stream-fed lakes provide fantastic hunting and fishing. Boating, hiking and camping are popular activities in this secluded backcountry paradise. In autumn, kaleidoscopic colors create spectacular photography opportunities. Downtown Grand Junction is a huge attraction for visitors because of its unique charm. Visit boutiques, restaurants, galleries, antique furniture stores and coffee shops. "Art on the Corner" is an outdoor sculpture exhibit in the award-winning Downtown Shopping Park where sculptors loan their work free of charge for one year. Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner becomes a special occasion at any one of the fine restaurants you will discover in the downtown area. The charming town of Palisade is home to world-renown fruit orchards and vegetable farms. More than a dozen varieties of peaches are grown here. Bing cherries, tomatoes, peas, green beans, apricots, plums and locally grown apples may all be purchased, in season, at dozens of roadside fruit stands. Every August, the town hosts the Palisade Peach Festival. A colorful parade, peach eating contests and live music entertain and delight visitors every year.
