Neighborhood Description The neighborhood is an interesting mix, with some grand houses along this stretch of Morrissey, and some simpler ones built more in the 30s to 60s. Thankfully the attention to keeping up yards and houses has risen significantly so everyone seems on a repair-the-house kick, with lots of lovely yards and a wide variety of architectural styles and gardening styles. Morrissey in this stretch is a major feed to the freeway, so there is a significant amount of traffic during the day and this is something one must be aware of and decide to make peace with. Myself, though I was concerned about it at first, I have come to see it as one of the fish tanks at an aquarium, and I enjoy watching the various automobiles going by. Some drive too fast, and it is not a safe street for animals or children, but the street is beautiful with its center divider, grand tall palm trees, and regular attention from city workers. So it is some distance from the house, both physically and psychologically, and thankfully it becomes very quiet at night, the most important time for quiet. Meanwhile, the banana belt as an area continues to rise as owners care for their homes more actively or transform them into McMansions altogether. To the east is the nicest neighborhood, just one block in, with large trees and some lovely homes. The people are very friendly around here, and there is a surprising amount of foot traffic right on the Morrissey sidewalk. Harbor High is just six or seven blocks to the east, and a middle school is the same distance to the west. I believe both are of good quality, but I cannot speak with authority on the matter as I don't have or know any children who attend them.
