Large Room in a Writers Flat near Castro and Market and Church Street My name is Jim Reid. I am the master tenant and proprietor of what I affectionately call: The 16th Street Writers' Residence. It is a lovely place, in a GREAT location. If you are looking for a home where you can live your writer's dream, this may be the place for you. I have a nice room, available now. It is fully furnished, or you may have it empty. The Residence is two blocks from Dolores Park, two blocks from Market Street, and four blocks from the Castro District. There is public transit going in every direction 100 feet away at the corner. In 2015, I created a Writers' Residence, where three writers live together. I am a building contractor, born in 1950. I personally remodeled the entire residence. It has a luxurious bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub, a second toilet/reading room, a large kitchen, a light-well deck, and a lovely sunny fern garden. The common living room is set up as a library for quiet study, reading, an occasional writers' group, the movie of the week, or daily yoga practice. I am gay, a dreamer, an idealist, and a devout atheist ;-). I believe we need to be the Guardians of this extraordinary planet we share with a zillion other amazing creatures. I live a quiet life and get up every morning at about 3:30 a.m., take an ice-cold shower, get a cup of coffee, read some inspirational material, and then write for three hours while my roommates sleep. I then go to work as a building contractor for eight hours, five days a week. I am taking a few months off to improve the flat and finish some writing projects. Christmas is coming and I can get carried away decorating as I own more Christmas ornaments than god. Some have compared living in the Residence to living in a library, where reading and writing are sacred. What we offer to that rare person is a unique place to realize your writer's dream. I host Thursday night Dinners, twice a month where we talk about our week and share what we wrote. My social life flourishes outside of the residence, and so should yours. I've had roommates who like to party, love to cook, and have endless house guests. This is NOT what we are looking for. If you are not a full time writer but believe this could be a good fit this unorthodox San Francisco home, please contact me, and tell me why. You are a writer! Write me an enthusiastic email or record an enthusiastic voicemail. Life is too short not to have fun, in spite of the rapidly deteriorating state of the world. We are open to people of any age, sex, race, or sexual preference. You will pay the first and last month's rent and a security deposit upon move-in. You will be paying slightly more than your proportional share of the rent I pay to my landlords because of the work I've done on the flat, the unique living situation I offer, and the many amenities of my writer's home. I will disclose what I pay when we sign a Rent Board approved rental agreement. One person per room. Please call, text, or email me and tell me why the Writer's Residence would be your ideal next San Francisco home. It is always best to call and talk in person. I look forward to meeting you. Living in the Residence to living in a library, where reading and writing are sacred We have dinner twice a month on Thursday nights and two movie nights My social life flourishes outside of the residence, and so should yours. I am happy to paint the room any colors you like. One person per room. No Smoking or Pets
