Available: a lovely, spacious and bright ground floor 2 bedroom / 1 full bath, in a "co-housing-ish" property. Cohousing-ish here means that we all have our separate homes, but have an intention to be there for each other as neighbors, and build community. Each unit ideally hosts a monthly meal, garden work session, karaoke/sing-along night, or equivalent. Available now and with a flexible start date for the right fit. It's available furnished or unfurnished, up to you what stays or goes. Cats and dogs are likely welcome as well - let us know about your animal roommates. The unit was built in 2017, with high (~9') ceilings, lots of light, and a modern-ish build, bamboo floors, washer/dryer. Opens directly to the grassy backyard, hot tub and garden area with plum & kiwi trees, and garden boxes (with phone-controlled automatic watering) for your gardening pleasure. This large (1000 sq ft+) ground floor unit is near Lake Merritt in the Adam's Point neighborhood, on a very quiet street yet only ~10 minutes walk from many restaurants, WholeFoods/TJoes, coffee, transit etc. (walk score 87). We are very friendly with our neighbors, even socializing. A washer dryer is in the unit as well. Upstairs in the main 1908 house is Brian (owner), a social entrpreneur who worked closely with the Obama white house and campaigns, and many progressive org's as as customers. Also his part-time children (11boy and 9girl), and currently also a good family friend Jason (dancer and cat-lover, former financial services entreneur). Also upstairs are frequent "workaway guests", most frequently from Europe or South America, who stay either in Brian's house or the attic-level room or office (at top of the main house), usually for 2-3 months while visiting the area. Being here to help while traveling, they also garden, cook shared meals, socialize, and share the joys of their travels to the area. The workaway guests also cook and offer a monthly (or more) meal with all invited. At times, Brian rents out the main house as well, when traveling. There's a modern 1BR in the back is a new co-resident Stephanie, who loves gardening, art and crafting and has a lovely cat that wanders. There's also a tiny house on the 2nd level in the back, rented out as a guest house. As a participating co-resident, there are often guest rooms elsewhere available, or the guest tiny house is available to residents at a 50% discount (for up to 2 weeks/year). We ask co-residents have clear communication to work out what's needed to be happy, and remain committed to communication when issues arise. Rent is as posted, plus ~$140/pp utilities (including water gas electric trash) and, as co-residents, we share fiber internet ($10/each). Parking is $100/mo for one spot among the shared spots (may require some shuffling sometimes). Lease is a trial period (4-6 months?) followed by annual renewal. Stated rent is for a start ideally by mid-September, no pets or parking, as is, but the terms are flexible. Sublets may be considered for the right people as well. We have shared many happy memories with our previous co-residents and look forward to welcoming you to your next home. Send us a message about why you think this is a good fit for you. It's definitely hard to describe our unique property, and yes the pictures are quite dated. INTERESTED? Please tell me about yourself and what you're looking for that has you interested, as well as your preferred times to see it. As agreed.
