It is perfect for a minimalist, extended-stay, traveling professional, who wants clean urban digs with walking access to cafes, restaurants, gyms, shopping, parks, theater & transport. It shares a bathroom with one other guest, has a mini-bar, fast fiber internet, monthly bathroom cleaning, an assigned parking space, & pay-per-use laundry on prem. San Mateo is 20 min. from Silicon Valley, SF & the ocean. Although there is assigned on-site parking for the room, the cottage is only 2 blocks from Caltrain and there is space in the back to store a bicycle so a car is quite optional. There is also pay-per-use laundry facilities by the parking area in a separate building on the same premises. Local laundry pickup/drop off services in the area are also excellent choices. The room comes with two (2) sets of high-quality linens (sheets, towels, etc.); and a few days of initial supplies like tea, coffee, trash bags and paper towels. *Please note-- there is no kitchen on premise. There is only what's provided in your minibar inside your room (a 3.2 cu. ft. fridge, microwave/air fryer, electric hot water kettle, Keurig coffee maker, filtered water dispenser, and dishes/utensils. There is a shared freezer in a hallway closet with a shelf area reserved for the room's tenant.) The bathroom is shared with only one other guest. It has heated floors, light-up LED defogging mirrors, and assigned towel racks, hooks & shower caddies for each room. The main area for socializing in the cottage, besides the room itself, is the front porch, which has two rocking chairs, a side table, and an outlet for laptops. ALL Utilities, water, garbage, gardening, and high-speed fiber internet are also included. Housekeeping is ALSO included for the common areas. They come at least 1 time a month to clean the bathrooms, hallway, & porch. Room available Jan 15, 2026 Quiet hours are 10pm- 8a everyday except Friday and Saturday evenings are 11pm. The neighborhood is reasonably peaceful at night during the week. However, it is by no means a quiet suburban neighborhood! It is near a colorful, bustling downtown. You can hear the train from time to time, and on Fri/Sat evenings locals walk downtown or relax with music and friends. Overnight guests are welcome from time to time but not for more than a few nights a month. Guest limitations are rigorously enforced because we aim for a tranquil, tidy place for people to stay and work.
