In the late 1950s, the Racquet Club management decided to expand the complex to provide additional rooms, and famous local architect William Cody was hired to design the Racquet Club Cottages. Built by Paul Trousdale, the first of 37 cottages opened in 1960. The cottages were initially leased by the year but rented overnight for hotel guests when available.
