    Our home is on a peaceful cul-de-sac great for kids to play in and safe. The back of our home faces Calavera Lake and Calavera Mountain - all part of a preserved area. The street traffic is light. The kids walk one block to the elementary/middle school and enter through the side gate in our neighborhood - no traffic or safety issues to worry about. We are 1 mile from the grocery store/shopping center and Calavera rec center where kids play basketball, soccer, softball, baseball, and the area has many "pocket" parks. It's a great area for walking and hiking the trails around the lake and up the mountain. The area is about 2 miles from HWY 78 which connects to Int 5 (4 miles away) and if heading east to Int 15 about 15 miles away. We are 4 miles from Legoland and 3 miles from the beach and downtown Carlsbad. There are golf courses and driving ranges sprinkled through the area.
