1820 Colonial Farmhouse on four plus acres bordering Otego Creek. A 32.7-mile-long tributary of the Susquehanna River in Otsego County, New York. Otego Creek rises in the Town of Otsego and flows south through the Towns of Hartwick and Laurens, before joining the Susquehanna River southwest of the City of Oneonta. This wonderful generational family home, sits on the edge of the Hamlet of Hartwick, only minutes to the historic Village of Cooperstown. Set perfectly on the 205 corridor between Oneonta and Utica, commuting made easy. Open living room with two entrances from the wrap-around front and side porch. Parlor/downstairs bedroom with original pocket doors, offers privacy off the living room. The adjoining 3/4 bath with pedestal sink has laundry. Open Eat-in kitchen with tiled floor boasts the original wooden cabinets with the original hardware. Large family room off the kitchen has French doors that open to the rear porch. The large rear porch is great for entertaining, relaxing and grilling/dining and offers pastoral views. The second floor with an open bright landing, has three good sized bedrooms, all with hardwood floors and plenty of natural light. The large tiled bathroom has plenty of space and a linen closet. The first floor offers a 2013 Mitsubishi Ac/Heater for the entire first floor to enjoy. The over-sized two bay garage (960 square feet) has extra storage space. The property is level with shade trees and natural boundaries. The neighboring town of Cooperstown is a village, with a population of approximately 1,900, in central New York State, at the southern tip of Otsego Lake. During the summer season the population more than doubles with boating, baseball and opera enthusiasts. Cooperstown is best known for the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, with its interactive exhibits, artifacts and Plaque Gallery. The Farmers' Museum, opened in 1944 on farmland that had once belonged to James Fenimore Coopers, depicts 19th-century farm life, and includes craft demonstrations and a hand-carved carousel. The Fenimore Art Museum features American fine art and folk art, plus a garden with lake views. Most of the historic pre-1900 core of the village is included in the Cooperstown Historic District. Otsego Lake, 167 in depth, is an 8 mile long, 4000+ acre gem with Cooperstown, a gem itself at it's southern edge. From Council Rock Park one can see the source of the Susquehanna River, as it heads South 444 miles to the Chesapeake Bay. With tremendous views, crystal clear water, beaches, boating, fishing, it is truly a regional jewel. A boat ride on Otsego is breathtaking, viewing the historic Hyde House and the Glimmerglass State Park, both at the north end of the lake, as well as the Leatherstocking Golf Course, Glimmerglass Festival, Three Mile Point, Mt. Wellington, are just a few stunning vistas. The Cooperstown Central School District, with approximately 855 students throughout grades K-12, has a student teacher ratio of 12:1 and offers AP courses as well as the educational benefits of the Basset Medical Center program. This home and location offers all the benefits of country living with the modern conveniences we have all become accustom too!
