Neighborhood Description This is an older neighborhood for Carefree with large established trees and cacti. Homes are one acres and up. There are neighborhood functions, such as potlucks, clean up groups and get-togethers. Everyone seems very nice and friendly. This is not a guard gated community but a community with a HOA ($60 per year). This is a very safe place to live. About one mile to the little town of Carefree and two miles to Cave Creek. Scottsdale is about a half hour drive and a trip into Phoenix take me 45 minutes. The Heard Musuem North is nearby as is the El Pedregal Shopping Center as well as the cute little shops on Easy Street, Ho Road and Hum Road. The Music Fest presents annual concerts in February. There are many hiking trails nearby and many restaurants and cozy little places like Cave Creek Java. Every Friday in the winter months is a farmer's market in the center of town. There is a town Christmas party and concerts in the town of Carefree and at El Pedgregal on Thursday evening and Sunday afternoons. Lots to do. The weather is about ten degrees cooler than Phoenix due to the higher altitude. Even in the hot summer, we eat dinner on our patio! Great living!!
