Nakoma was developed starting in the 1920's around an Arboretum. The neighbors are a mix of University professors, doctors, lawyers and other professionals. There is an active neigborhood life organized about area clusters that include 4th of July parties and cookie exchanges. The whole area has an annual 4th of July parade and gathering at the elementary school. There is a Fall Cocktail party for the neighborhood, a Feburary muscial written, directed, produced, and acted in by the neighbors, and a spring progressive dinner. Great place for kids!
