Constructed by Willis Farris, Jr. (1888-1986) in 1915. He had married Mary Haynes of Rutherford County in 1914. A 2001 home tour featured a picture of this home, calling it an American Four Square withe Classical Revival details. 4 Farris children were born here, Willis III, Miriam, Rachel, and Mary (my mother), before the family moved to a 25 acre tract at the intersection of Battery Lane and Franklin Road in 1923.
