    What's special

Rooms available in a 1920s 3BR home, only 10 minutes south of downtown Seattle, yet a world apart. 100 feet on the Duwamish river -- canoeing and kayaking -- and easy access to I-5 and 405. Three furnished upstairs bedrooms, each with a view of the river. The smallest bedroom has a double bed; the others have a queen bed. Furnishings are modest, as is the house and neighborhood. Large kitchen. River views from the large picture windows in the dining and living rooms. Fireplace. Wood floors. Currently, the downstairs study (my room) is undergoing floor refinishing, but this activity and future renovation efforts (window upgrades) will not affect you -- unless you have experience and advice you'd like to share. Quiet, serene surroundings. Chickens and guineas. Large gardens and fruit trees, grapes, and berries offer abundant fresh organic food for this vegetarian (with seafood) household and plenty of opportunities for gardening, orcharding, and relaxing. Fish, ducks, eagles, osprey on the river. Occasional kayakers, beavers, seals. A 30-mile Seattle-to-Kent bicycle and walking path. The world is different here, slower. Writers, artists, and creative women of all ages -- including those who like to invent, experiment, and relax -- are encouraged! This is a small, friendly community of neighbors. You can choose to share afternoon walks, writing or other activities -- or enjoy them by yourself. The nearby community center offers a Thursday drop-in painting class from 10 am to 2pm, with all levels welcome. The swimming pool schedule runs from 5:45 am to 1 pm and evenings with an easygoing slow-stretch class at noon. Henry loves purring and laps. Across the river is a 10-acre Native American sacred site, a unique cultural park with views from downtown to Mt. Rainier. Historians and archaeologists have been visiting this site for more than a century. Each bedroom is $595 monthly, with a lower rate for a multi-room rental. All utilities (except electric and internet) included. Women only. Security deposit, references, background check, first/last. Rentals are monthly, but you set your own schedule. You may choose to stay month to month. Or, use your space as a studio for writing or other activities on weekends only or lunch hours only, mornings only (with evenings at home), or whichever arrangements meet your needs. The house is easily accessible from I-5, 405, 509. Call for more information or to schedule a viewing.
