A river runs through it...
Okay, well, it's Johnson Creek, but it's yours to enjoy. This is a nature lover's dream come true. We lived here for years before moving to Bend. Every morning I'd walk over to the big window facing the stream to see what critters were out there. There are deer, ducks, nutria, fish, birds, and BEAVERS. It is your private wetlands off the back porch without another house in site. There is an additional fenced viewing deck ground-level right off the creek.
To increase your viewing opportunities there is a large sliding glass door off the kitchen and the aforementioned large picture window in the living room. That side of the house faces west. The rental is a duplex with only one shared wall but you have a private deck and private patio area off the front door. It has central gas heat, and central AC. This is a bright, clean and cozy space for folks who love the suburbs but want to be surrounded by nature. With ambient noise from the creek and highway.
While there is back yard with grass (that we mow so you can see the stream), the back of the house is all natural wetlands. Being a wetlands with a creek running through it, the ground is pretty soggy from October until April. The stream overflows about three times per winter, but fear not, the house is built on stilts it's actually pretty cool when it's flooding. You can see the sound wall from the highway in a photo, there is ambient noise when outside, and to us it sounds like the creek. The front deck/patio is secluded and doesn't flood.
Other things to note:
The house is a duplex, but you will rarely hear the neighbors as the two sides only share one wall (your kitchen). We also just replaced the windows on both sides (but please be considerate of noise levels late at night and early morning in this area just in case, the neighbors are considerate of you). There is a shared driveway long enough for two cars for each side and a garage for each side for storage.
Commonwealth Lake is within walking distance with great nature paths that the creek in your back yard flows into. This duplex is situated nicely with only a super-quick to downtown Portland, and only a little over an hour's drive to the beach.
It is because for pristine and fragile ecosystem off the back of the house that no pets are allowed.
One year lease. Non-smoking property. Owner pays for water. Tenant pays for electricity, gas, internet, and garbage. First month's rent plus security deposit due at signing.
