    What's special

Cathedral City: Unlike other desert communities, most of Cathedral City's housing is not tucked behind gates. Most of its tile roofed, one story Spanish style homes were built by small developers or individual owners, staring in the 1950's. Cathedral City Cove is a unique community of individually built homes. Treasuring the beauty of our skies and mountains, street lights were banned from most areas poreserving the night time view. History: The Cahuilla Indians were the original inhabitants of Cathedral City. They lived throughout the coachella Valley for more than two thousand years. In 1876, the Agua Caliente Bank of Cahuilla Indians established their reservation which encompases approximately 28% of the land mass of Cathedral City. In 1850, Colonel Henry Washington of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers discovered that the area's canyons resembled the interior of a grand cathedral. While recording the areas history, he named this canyon of majestic architecture Cathedral Canyon. Four ealy developers later had the same impression. In 1925, they developed the are's first subdivision and named it Cathedal City, California.
