NC cohousing is built on 10+ acres, 6 of which have been kept as open space. The community has meals up to 6 nights a week, prepared by its members. The members of the community celebrate their lives together with summer barbecues, Thanksgiving dinner, New Year’s dance, and other special events throughout the year. The common house includes a large kitchen for preparing meals, dining area for 60+ people, sitting area, kid’s room, teen room, laundry room, and 2 guest rooms. Outside maintenance is done by community members on work days, or sometimes hired out to local contractors. The community is very kid and pet friendly, with many young families living here. Security is another tangible benefit. Everyone looks out for their neighbors. Helpful and friendly neighbors are only a door or two away. In addition to the usual benefits that come with living in cohousing, an outstanding feature is our unique location. The community is an easy walk from downtown Nevada City, which is a charming picturesque town with year round activities and festivals.
